Bilibili Delivers 55% YoY Net Profit Growth in Q2 2026 as Advertising Revenue Jumps 28%

Bilibili Inc. (Bilibili) reported unaudited results for the three months ended 30 June 2026, highlighting a solid rebound in profitability driven by accelerating advertising demand and sustained user engagement.

Financial Performance • Revenue climbed 8.2% year on year to RMB 7.94 billion (USD 1.17 billion). • Advertising income advanced 28.0% to RMB 3.13 billion (USD 461.40 million), accounting for 39.4% of total revenue versus 33.4% a year earlier. • Value-added services (VAS) rose 4.6% to RMB 2.97 billion (USD 437.30 million), while mobile-game sales retreated 13.7% to RMB 1.39 billion (USD 205.10 million) after last year’s one-off hit title. • Gross profit increased 10.4% to RMB 2.95 billion (USD 435.50 million); gross margin improved 0.7 percentage points to 37.2% as revenue growth outpaced a 6.9% rise in cost of revenue. • Net profit rose 55.4% to RMB 339.10 million (USD 50.00 million), lifting the net margin to 4.3% from 3.0%. • Adjusted net profit (non-GAAP) expanded 25.4% to RMB 703.63 million (USD 103.70 million), translating into an 8.9% adjusted net margin versus 7.6% a year ago. • Basic earnings per share reached RMB 0.82, up from RMB 0.52. Adjusted basic EPS grew to RMB 1.69 from RMB 1.34.

Operating Metrics • Average daily active users grew 7% to 116.50 million. • Average daily time spent climbed to 113 minutes, pushing total user time spent up 14% year on year. • Monthly active users stood at 371 million, according to management commentary.

Cost Structure and Expenses • Revenue-sharing costs increased 4% to RMB 3.08 billion. • Total operating expenses rose 6.5% to RMB 2.58 billion, tempered by disciplined sales and marketing spend (up 1.4%) and flat general and administrative costs, but partially offset by a 16.4% uptick in research and development outlays tied to higher server depreciation.

Balance Sheet and Liquidity • Cash, cash equivalents, time deposits and short-term investments totaled RMB 24.30 billion (USD 3.58 billion) at 30 June 2026. • Total assets reached RMB 42.48 billion against total liabilities of RMB 26.57 billion, resulting in shareholders’ equity of RMB 15.91 billion.

Share Repurchase Activity Under the USD 300 million, two-year buyback program launched in June 2026, Bilibili had repurchased 1.90 million shares for approximately USD 31.30 million by quarter-end. Including purchases under the 2024 mandate, cumulative 2026 repurchases total 5.80 million shares costing roughly USD 118 million.

Management Outlook Chairman and CEO Rui Chen cited Bilibili’s “high-quality content and interest-based community” as key drivers of engagement and revenue gains, adding that AI initiatives are expected to enhance scalability. CFO Sam Fan highlighted “16 consecutive quarters of gross-margin expansion” and reiterated a disciplined investment approach coupled with ongoing capital returns through share buybacks.
